CATHERINE KELLY LANG

Music Educator

ABOUT

After discovering her passion for music at a young age in New York, Catherine Lang moved to Massachusetts to pursue a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has studied with great violinists including Elizabeth Chang and Anton Polezhayev, participated in masterclasses with the Chiara String Quartet, and studied the Suzuki Method with Christie Felsing at the Hartt School of Music. 

Catherine has a passion for music education. She is a registered Suzuki violin teacher and is also trained to lead Music Together classes, both of which are offered in her studio in New York. As a string teacher, she has worked with various age levels and abilities. Throughout her undergraduate career, Catherine has worked with elementary students as an intern with the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District leading rehearsals and running sectionals. 

At her student teaching experience at Meadowbrook Elementary School (K-2) in East Longmeadow, MA, Catherine taught general music classes and led the second grade choir. At her student teaching experience at East Longmeadow High School, Catherine led the band, orchestra and taught music theory and music technology classes. 

Catherine is fluent in many current music technology programs including Reason, Garageband, Soundation, Smart Music, NoteFlight, and other music notation software. She also has experience working with Google Classroom, and collaborated with her supervising teacher to create performance based assessments using Google Classroom technology.
